The Health Ambassadors are available to give health presentations to classrooms, student organizations, residence halls and more. Please request presentations with approximately two weeks notice. The Health Ambassadors cover a wide variety of topics, but are able to tailor presentations to your group’s specific needs. This program provides students with valuable information and awareness on general alcohol usage as shown through a scenario of a “typical” college student’s night of partying. This scenario is intended to show students that the consequences of excessive alcohol and irresponsible decision-making while under the influence can affect not only themselves, but those around them. This program provides students with the information that is needed to be able to make informed and intelligent choices if they choose to consume alcohol.
Time: 30-45 minutes
Alcohol consumption can have numerous consequences on our bodies, many of which are related to sexual health. This program focuses on how alcohol consumption is related to sexual assault and rape, as well as issues such as poor sexual performance and relationship problems. Students will learn about the increased risks associated with consuming alcohol while engaging in sexual activity and how to minimize these risks.
Time: 35-40 minutes

Have you ever thought about how many cigarette butts are lying around campus? This program is to help students become familiar with preventative measures, harmful effects, and vital information about smoking. This presentation will help students gain knowledge about preventative measures of smoking through interactive games that provide well-informed facts and data.

Hookah and e-cigarettes seem to be the greatest “new” things to hit college students since free t-shirts. Is it really worth it all to try and look cool? This program will help students become more familiar with the truth about hookah and e-cigarettes, their harmful effects, and vital information of the two in comparison to normal cigarettes. Students will gain knowledge about the reality behind the water pipe and electronic cigarette through interactive games providing well-informed facts and data.

In this program, students will learn about budgets, budget importance, and how to effectively keep a budget. Through an interactive mock budget and their own individual budget sheets, students will learn how to keep a budget on their own using Mint.com as a resource. In addition, they will determine long term goals from short term goals and wants from needs through interactive activities.

This program is directed at students in residence halls. It is a good way to learn how to make the most of your money and save on all of the things having to do with off-campus living. Through interactive games and activities, students will learn how to save money while living in an apartment/house and how to better stick to their budget.

Need more bang for your buck? This program is designed to assist residents in dorms to learn how to eat healthy on a budget. Sticking to a budget while still eating healthy can be challenging, but by attending this program students will acquire the necessary skills to do so. Through an interactive “Price is Right” wheel, students will guess common food prices to help grocery shopping be more effective on a budget. There will also be a discussion about some cheap, healthy meals that can be made at home in the dorm, and some savvy restaurant tips for eating out in Tuscaloosa.
Time: 45-50 minutes
This program aims to educate dorm students in a fun and interactive way. The program contains an audience-engaging icebreaker, followed by a very informative jeopardy game teaching students how to live a clean and healthy lifestyle.

Fun fact- a one hour workout is only 4% of the 24 hour day! College students are extremely busy and have a lot going on, so it is important for them to be able to get a good workout in within a short amount of time. This program aims to educate students about physical fitness through games, videos, and strategies to plan workouts that work for everyone.

Sometimes it seems like there are honestly not enough hours in the day. College is a stressful time that requires the best time management skills possible. This program provides helpful tips, exercises, and games to teach students how to effectively manage their time to minimize stress and maximize productivity. Students will leave this program knowing about the campus resources available to help them when needed.

This program is very interactive by teaching students the importance of sleep and how to get a good night’s sleep. Students will walk away from this presentation knowing the importance of sleep and have more information on creating a better sleep environment.

This program includes educational tidbits on how stress affects the body as well as helpful tips on how to effectively manage stress. There will be activities to engage students to correctly identify the physical symptoms caused by stress, as well as differentiate between healthy and unhealthy stress management practices. Students will leave this presentation feeling confident that they can manage the everyday stressors of life in a manner that is beneficial to their wellbeing. Students will also leave knowing about the campus resources to help them when needed.

Are you a college student always on the go, or do you know one? This program is ideal to cover that topic. Due to the crazy and hectic lifestyle of a college student, eating healthy usually becomes the last thing on their list. It is also known that college students are not the wealthiest group so most meals are consumed in the dining halls on campus. Most dorms do not have full kitchens; therefore, cooking options are limited. This program will help students make the smarter choice when eating in the dining hall or making a quick snack. The ingredients for a healthy meal made dorm style are provided and allow each student to make their own version. Students will learn a new recipe that can be made quickly, along with what foods to avoid.

Body Image Boot Camp not only burns calories, but also builds body image. This quick, 15-minute workout is dorm friendly and easy to fit into a busy schedule. During the program, all students will participate in a 15-minute workout to encouraging, upbeat songs. After the workout is finished, students will receive several workout handouts, recovery recipes, and a recovery snack bag. Working out has been proven to make people feel better.

It can be so easy for people to struggle with their body image. Every day we are constantly exposed to images of what the media insinuates we should look like. This program exposes the truths about photo shopping and body image providing college aged students a new positive outlook on their bodies. Open discussion gives students an opportunity to relate to others and realize everyone has their own body image concerns. Students will leave with a new appreciation for their bodies and a new knowledge of truth about the myths of body image.
Time: 20-25 minutes
In this program, students will simulate the action of sexual intercourse through the exchange of bodily fluids by exchanging drinks. The students will be educated on the contraction and prevention of STIs/STDs (sexual transmitted infections and sexually transmitted diseases) and the differences between the two. Students will also learn about proper condom usage.

“I feel like I am a really good roommate, and they are just hard to live with.”… said everyone ever. This program will educate students on various ways to be a good roommate, as well as how to effectively solve a roommate conflict. Students will label our “The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly” board with pre-prepared cards that have roommate qualities listed on them.
Time: 40 minutes
This is a discussion-based program designed to engage students surrounding the topic of consent, and how consent is reinforced (or not reinforced) in society and media. There will also be discussion for ways to promote consent on the interpersonal level.

On college campuses, many types of “minority” intimate relationships carry stigmas that are simply not true. Negative stigmas surround individuals in interracial relationships, people who date online, those who choose to remain single, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community. Many of these stigmas stem from gender roles. This program focuses on eliminating these stigmas from our campus and fostering a more inclusive community. There will also be discussion regarding condoms.
